Q. What does a paid listing look like?

A. A paid job listing is highlighted and includes a logo (if provided) and almost unlimited text.

Sample ad:

HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA (USA).  The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the College of Medicine of The Pennsylvania State University seeks an academic hematopathologist, open rank, tenure- or non-tenure track.  The Medical Center is a 504-bed tertiary care hospital in a pleasant south-central PA community, with excellent schools and beautiful geography.  Recent and planned growth includes an outpatient clinic building, an outpatient surgicenter, a new Cancer Institute building, and a free-standing Children’s Hospital.

The successful candidate will join a strong team-oriented faculty of 17 in Anatomic Pathology and 14 in Clinical and Experimental Pathology.  The pathology faculty enjoys the benefits of up to date physical facilities, fiscal stability, an on-site day care center and fitness center, collegial staff relationships, an outstanding residency program, several fellowship programs, and mentorship programs for junior faculty development.  Depending upon the candidate’s interests and qualifications, the position can be formulated with a clinician-educator focus or as a physician-scientist position. Candidates applying for a physician-scientist position will be expected to develop an externally funded research program.

Applicants should be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Hematopathology.  Applications should include a cover letter with a personal statement, curriculum vitae, and the names of three individuals who could provide letters of reference.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Q. How do I post a job ad?

A. Just email the text to NatPernick@Hotmail.com with a copy to NatPernick@gmail.com.  We can include your logo if sent as a GIF or JPG attachment with a file size of 25K or less.  We usually post within 4 business hours and confirm the posting by email.  If you have not heard from us within one business day, it means we did not receive the email, or (rarely), that we are out of town without access to the Internet.  Once the ad is posted, we will invoice you, and give you payment instructions.  You can pay by check, online or by faxing or telephoning us your credit card information.

Q.  Is there any information I should include within my ad?

A.  We recommend that you include any specific requirements for the position (board certification, subspecialty boards, years of experience) and the projected starting date.  We also recommend that you state whether or not this is a J1 or H1 Visa or health professional shortage area opportunity, since some applicants need to know this.  We also suggest that you include an email address or a fax number.  We recommend that you do NOT require applicants to register online because they don’t like doing this and it will reduce your response.

Q. How much does a paid job listing cost?

A. The cost for posting a Pathologist or PhD position is $700, and the cost to post any other type of laboratory position is $500.  This is a flat fee for posting until the position is filled, up to 6 months for non-academic positions or 12 months for academic positions.  Your ad can be for one or more than one position.  You cannot mix pathologist/PhD positions and non-doctoral positions in the same ad, because they are posted on different pages.

Q. Can I buy a package deal for the year that will allow me to post several listings at a discounted price?

A. Yes.  If you purchase 6 or more job ads at the same time (ads can be posted now or in the future), there is a 20% discount.  For 20 or more job ads, there is a 33% discount.  Prepayment is required for this discount.

Q. How long will my ad be posted?

            A. Job listings run until the position is filled, up to 6 months for non-academic positions and one year for academic positions.  Please contact us when the position is filled so that we can remove the ad.  Before the job expires, we will contact you to see if you want to renew.

Q. How many visitors does the site have?

A. PathologyOutlines.com is the world’s most popular pathology website, with over 2.2 million visitors in 2007, including over 200,000 visits just to the Jobs pages.  Monthly statistics are available by clicking on the “Website Statistics” button on the left side of the Home Page.

Q.  What kind of response can I expect?

A.  Most advertisers receive a large number of responses.  Part-time positions or positions outside major urban areas may be more difficult to fill.  All new job advertisements are also included in our biweekly emails of Pathologist/PhD Jobs or Laboratory (other) Jobs.

Q.  Can I make changes to the ad?

A.  We allow changes to the contact information at any time, and allow some changes within the first two months of posting for no additional charge.  After two months, changes are not allowed.

Q.  I want to remove the ad before the expiration period.  Do I get a credit for the balance?

A.  No.  Once the ad is posted, you cannot get a refund.  This applies whether you have filled the position, or changed your mind about posting the ad.  Most of our costs are associated with our rapid posting of the ad.  For that reason, we cannot give credits if it does not run for as long as we allow.

Q. Can I pay by credit card?

A. Yes, you can pay with a credit card in two ways.  First, you can pay online.  Go to the Home Page at www.PathologyOutlines.com, then click on the Advertise button on the left side of the Home Page.

Q. If I want to pay by check or money order, where do I mail it?

A. Our mailing address for checks is: PathologyOutlines.com, Inc., Dept. 2006, Post Office Box 30516, Lansing, MI 48909-8016.  Please do not mail any other correspondence to this address.  Our mailing address for correspondence is 30100 Telegraph Road, Suite 408, Bingham Farms, MI (USA) 48025.
