TAMPA BAY AREA, FLORIDA (USA). Ruffolo, Hooper & Associates, M.D., P.A. (RHA) is a hospital based pathology group established in 1961 in the Tampa Bay area. Today, our group consists of over twenty (20) Clinical and Anatomic Board Certified Pathologists, many of whom have multi-specialty board certifications. RHA currently provides both inpatient and outpatient Clinical and Anatomic Pathology Services to seven area hospitals.

Pathology Assistant
Provide service in Anatomic Pathology under the direction and supervision of a pathologist. Job duties include: dissecting and describing gross findings of tissue specimens, submitting requests for special histological procedures as appropriate, ensuring photographs and x-rays are prepared as appropriate, assisting with frozen sectioning as needed, assisting with the appropriate triaging of specimens, freezing tissue for storage, ensuring fresh tissue is handled properly.
Responsible for gross examination, triage according to importance and disease classification, selection of appropriate fixative and preservation techniques; performing frozen section techniques and other studies as deemed necessary. Will be expected to handle clinically complex surgical cases.
Must be a graduate from a Baccalaureate Pathology Assistant program or have successfully completed a post Bachelor’s program from an approved school of Pathology Assistants or have a Bachelor’s degree in science with a background in physiology and anatomy with three to five years experience in Pathology. Certification by the American Association of Pathology Assistants (AAPA) or the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Pathology Assistant is required.

Laboratory Manager-Anatomic Pathology
IOWA CITY, IOWA (USA). The Department of Pathology at University of Iowa Healthcare is currently seeking a Laboratory Manager to direct the operations of the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory. This position is responsible for approximately 43 FTEs, anatomic records, autopsy, cytology, electron microscopy, histology, immunology and surgical pathology. This position works closely with the Laboratory Directors and the management team. Day Shift: Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Business, Hospital and Health Administration or Laboratory Administration from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable (3-5 years) experience in healthcare laboratory supervision and administration. Knowledge and experience working in an academic health center. Residency Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides administrative direction and support to the Pathology Residency Program Director and to the Program Directors of multiple fellowship programs. The individual must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, organization and independent prioritizing of work. Individual must be familiar with, and frequently review, the Graduate Medical Education (GME) and ACGME established procedures for the orderly and timely completion of duties, and advise the Program Directors and Residents/Fellows of new or changed criteria. Coordinate and administer human resource functions, such as appointments, for residents and fellows. Must possess ability to organize, schedule, and prioritize work for self and others to meet deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Assist in the execution of the Department of Pathology Residency and Fellowship programs, including the Recruitment of new residents; yearly coordination of reviews, files, surveys for pathology resident training programs; administrative assistance to the Residency Program Director, Chief Resident, and Fellowship Directors.
Initiate and
compose new policies and procedures for Pathology Residency Program and
Fellowship programs as appropriate, insuring compliance with GME/ACGME
requirements and other regulations as necessary. Develop, with the Program
Director, new educational goals, objectives, criteria, forms and procedures in
response to new or revised policies issued by ACGME, GME, other governing
agencies or Program Director. Attend pertinent educational conferences (local
or national) and peruse pertinent websites pertaining to residency
coordinators. Advise other Departmental Coordinators of such.
Maintain database to meet current ACGME requirements. Keep current, and coordinate, GME Internal and ACGME-conducted accreditation site visits. Maintain Pathology Program PIF, Pathology ADS and web-based ACGME accreditation surveys by collecting and collating appropriate information from various sources throughout the campus.
Represent the
Program Director to other Medical Center Administrative or Hospital Departments
and offices, and/or national or outside agencies in matters of administrative
consequence. Coordinate yearly graduation of residents/fellows, revision of
residency handbook and policies, and assist Program Director in orientation for
incoming residents.

Yearly and monthly responsibilities include advising residents on departmental policies, compile individual faculty evaluations of residents, distribute and collect semiannual resident evaluations of the faculty, and distribute and collect monthly faculty and rotation evaluations. Create and maintain yearly confidential faculty and resident surveys. Help to prepare yearly educational meeting goals and objectives based on surveys, evaluations, rise scores and board scores.
In addition, prepare agendas and attend Pathology Residency Program Committee Meetings, compose and distribute minutes from those meetings. Prepare written correspondence, reports, etc. for the Program Director and GME/ACGME
Knowledge of ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) software to manage residency and fellowship applications and compile reports as necessary.
Direct clerks in the creation of pathology resident on-call schedules, vacation and leave schedules, conference schedules and sign-in sheets, and pathology resident meetings; maintenance of all present and past residency staff personnel records, including confidential evaluations, portfolios, yearly reviews, surveys and counseling records. Inform residents and faculty of all required meetings and assist in presentation of any advertisements for job and fellowship opportunities. Create rotation schedules for rotating medical students. Prepare information packet for each rotating medical student.
Prepare residency program check requests, travel authorizations, expense reports, fund reimbursements and a balance sheet of all disbursements. Maintain resident and fellow personnel files, confidential correspondence, and teaching and performance evaluations.
Handle highly confidential material for residency, fellowship, and institution. Maintains biographical information on all residents and fellows, as well as updated information on graduates to include statistics on fellowship experiences and location. Assist in or prepare letters of recommendation. Prepare and distribute all post-graduation verifications.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a BA or BS degree. 2-5 years of progressively more responsible experience in residency programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with many individual personalities/styles and work well under deadlines and stress.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of a specific pathologist, and general technical direction of other pathologists, the Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for proper accessioning, description and dissection of large and small surgical pathology specimens and conducting autopsies. Hours for this position are from 12 noon to 9 pm.
Responsibilities
1) Preparation, gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens including:
A. Validating appropriate specimen accessioning information and correcting errors found.
B. Obtaining clinical history, including scans, x-rays, laboratory data, etc.
C. Describing gross anatomic features, dissecting surgical specimens, and preparing tissues for histologic processing.
D. Obtaining biological specimens such as blood, tissue and toxicological material for studies such as flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry etc., and performing special procedures including Faxitron imaging and tumor triage.
E. Photographing all pertinent gross specimens
F. Performing duties relating to the administrative maintenance of surgical pathology protocols.
2) Preparation of human postmortem examinations including:
A. Performing postmortem examinations which may include: external examination; in situ organ inspection; evisceration; dissection and dictation or recording of data such as organ weights, presence of body fluids etc., and gross anatomic findings.
B. Gathering and organizing clinical information and data pertinent to the preparation of the preliminary summarization of the clinical history.
3) Performing such administrative, budgetary, supervisory, teaching, and other duties as may be assigned.
