The holders of these non-tenure-track positions, at assistant professor to professor rank, will also conduct collaborative or independent scholarship and teach pathology. Allocation of effort is flexible, with physician-educator and physician-scientist tracks available.

Associate Pathologist

Hematopathologist

University of Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (USA). Formal fellowship training or significant experience is preferred.

A significant research portfolio would be highly desirable.

Anatomic Pathologist

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA (USA). The Interior Health Authority (IHA) of British Columbia (BC), Canada invites applications for a full-time Anatomical Pathologist position, located at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH), in the city of Kelowna, BC, Canada. The IHA serves a population of approximately 750,000 across a geographically diverse region of southern BC through 6 regional hospitals. The IHA Department of Laboratory Medicine currently has 35 regional pathologists and laboratory physicians, while additional positions are being actively recruited at several Regional centres.

The successful applicant will provide consultative and diagnostic surgical pathology and autopsy services in Kelowna. The position includes opportunities to engage in academic activities in the Southern Medical Program of the University of British Columbia (UBC), which trains 32 medical students per year in Kelowna.

IHA processes 90,000 surgical pathology specimens annually, including approximately 26,0000 at KGH.

Qualifications for the position include an MD and eligibility for a medical licence in the Province of BC Canada with certification in Anatomical Pathology. Additional training or experience in one or more areas of special interest would be an asset within this busy general surgical pathology practice.

Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist

TRAIL, BRITISH COLUMBIA (USA). Interior Health Authority is currently recruiting for an experienced anatomic and clinical pathologist (AP/CP) or Canadian General Pathologist, for a two person practice based at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital laboratory in Trail, British Columbia. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of clinical practice experience, with strong skills in surgical pathology and laboratory diagnostics, and will be comfortable with independent practice in a small group environment. The ability to sign out cytology and bone marrow biopsies, fellowship training, and/or an interest and training in dermatopathology would be a plus. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Hematopathology. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care and education. The ideal candidate will have experience in both the technology of flow cytometry and its role in a comprehensive hematopathology diagnostic setting. Clinical service in diagnostic hematopathology will also be a part of this position. Administrative/leadership experience would be expected for candidates wishing to be considered for Medical Director. As the lead hematopathologist for the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory, the applicant will provide strategic oversight and lead the clinical flow cytometry laboratory to state-of-the art approaches implementing clinical flow cytometry in conjunction with the highly respected Abramson Cancer Center Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Resource Laboratory. Strong interaction with the Center for Personalized Diagnostics to integrate flow cytometry with next-generation sequencing into hematopathology practice will offer translational research opportunities.

Neuropathologist Physician-Scientist

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (USA). The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine seeks a neuropathologist physician-scientist with research expertise in dementia or neuro-oncology and strong diagnostic skills to join its neuropathology division. The division of neuropathology has two full-time neuropathology faculty members and two neuropathology fellows. The division provides clinical service for the 15 hospitals of Indiana University Health, Eskenazi Health, and the Roudebush VA Medical Center. The range of specimens is broad and includes neoplasms, muscle and nerve biopsies, ophthalmic pathology, and autopsy pathology. IU Health Riley Children’s Hospital is the only comprehensive pediatric hospital in the state and has an active neurosurgery service.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine occupies a dedicated laboratory building with first class facilities that support the clinical, academic, and research collaborations of Indiana University Health and the Indiana University School of Medicine.

The applicant is expected to bring and continue to develop an independently funded research program in one of two areas. The ideal candidate is expected to have hands on experience on cutting-edge mass spectrometry based proteomic technologies, and to develop, validate and implement proteomic assays to detect diagnostic, prognostic and predictive cancer biomarkers. Qualifications

• The candidate is required to have PhD or equivalent degree in natural or medical science. At least 2 years of postdoctoral experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics is desirable.

• Prior hands-on experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomic technologies preferably in the area of cancer.
• Experience with maintenance, problem solving, and troubleshooting of advanced mass spectrometers coupled to upstream peptide separation by liquid chromatography

Clinical Pathologist

TIDEWATER REGION, VIRGINIA (USA). Pathology Sciences Medical Group, a private hospital-based pathology group of more than 20 pathologists based in Norfolk, Virginia has an opening at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for a clinical pathologist. The successful candidate will work with the five other full-time Hematopathologists. The candidate will be expected participate in the overall Hematopathology and Transfusion Medicine service work including on call service. The successful candidate will engage in the teaching activities of the undergraduate and residency programs; a special interest in teaching is a definite asset. The Division has an active residency training program in Hematological Pathology. The candidate will also be encouraged to engage in either individual or collaborative research projects.

The Division is located in the Regional Laboratory, which supports the three Campuses of The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. The Ottawa Hospital is a tertiary care teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Ottawa. The Division handles yearly over 800 bone marrow aspirate and biopsy specimens, 3,000 hematological diagnostic flow cytometry specimens, 2,500 thrombosis investigations and 2,000 bleeding disorder work-ups and daily over 1,500 CBC’s, and oversees the transfusion of 50,000 blood products yearly. Moreover, the division has a strong working relationship with the Clinical Physicians within the Bone Marrow Transplant Group, Hemophiliac Center, Thrombosis Unit and The Ottawa Heart Institute. The Division does not cover lymph node pathology, which is handled separately, in the Division of Anatomical Pathology.

The Regional Laboratory also serves the Eastern Ontario Region. The consolidation of the Hematopathology and Transfusion Medicine Laboratories stimulates an exciting model for clinical and academic activities throughout the region. This consolidation also offers the possibility to enhance our subspecialty delivery in routine Hematology, Hemoglobinopathies, Hemostasis and Thrombosis, Flow Cytometry, Tissue Typing and Transfusion Medicine.

The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine is recruiting two Pathologists (at any faculty rank) to join the Division of Anatomic and Molecular Pathology. The pathologists will be based at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The successful candidates will provide expertise in general surgical pathology and cytopathology, as well as medical directorship for the clinical laboratories of the SoutheastHEALTH system hospitals and clinics. Board certification in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology, and eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri, are required.

Excellence in diagnostic surgical pathology and laboratory medicine is expected. The clinical service includes a wide variety of challenging and interesting surgical pathology cases, with approximately 8,500 surgical cases per year. The centralized laboratory medicine operations of the SoutheastHEALTH system include standard chemistry, hematology, and microbiology diagnostic services and a blood bank with annually transfuses over 3700 units of red cells, in addition to testing performed at other health system facilities.

While the pathologist positions are based in Cape Girardeau, the professional practice components will be supported by and integrated into the operations of the Department of Pathology and Immunology. Thus, the pathologists will interact with, and be supported by, other pathology faculty across the full range of subspecialty areas in both surgical pathology and laboratory medicine.
