Key Performance Responsibilities:
• Provide accurate, timely diagnosis of the presence and stage of disease from a tissue specimen, utilizing appropriate laboratory procedures and conferring with colleagues as needed.
• Assigns the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for the service(s) and diagnosis provided, following coding and company guidelines /policies.
• Takes the initiative to improve quality in the work place. Supervises and coordinates activities of QA/QC to ensure quality care and evaluates the effectiveness of QA policies and procedures.
• Actively builds upon education and experience through CME.
• Provides advice to referring physicians regarding the clinical significance of laboratory findings.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning the Company and its stakeholders.
• Complies with all State and Federal professional regulations and department rules, polices and procedural manuals
• Adherence to Safety and HIPAA Regulations.

Experience:

• Dermatopathologist with at least 2-3 years of post-fellowship experience.
• Must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
• Strong customer focus and understanding of laboratory operations.
• Ability to communicate with high level decision makers.

This individual will serve as Technical Director of the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Laboratory. The Department of Pathology supports a comprehensive health system that includes 1,000 bed acute care adult and pediatric hospitals, a large outpatient clinic system, and a growing outreach laboratory program (MLabs). Immunohistochemical diagnostic test development is one of the key strategic underpinnings for MLabs.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Medical Director, the Lead Technologist, and a group of dedicated histotechnologists of the IHC Laboratory to provide the highest quality clinical service to Michigan Medicine and MLabs. The scope of responsibilities will include oversight of technical issues with a focus on new antibody optimization, validation, and implementation, as well as revamping the control library. In addition, the faculty member will be expected to participate in departmental educational programs.

Our friendly team of Anatomical Pathologists process approximately 20,000 cases per year with support from an external laboratory, accommodating the peaks in workload. Specimens are mostly fixed, but some frozen sections are processed each day. Cut-up requirements are usually minimal as our scientists generally support this role. Routine immunohistochemistry is available on-site. We have a state of the art mortuary which performs, on average, 140 non-suspicious Coronial autopsies and 2 hospital autopsies per year.

General Surgical Pathologist

UPMC Horizon is a two (2)-community hospital facility of the UPMC Health System serving Pennsylvania's northwestern region (Mercer and surrounding counties). The pathology department is recruiting for a community pathologist to replace a retiring pathologist. The position will emphasize strong diagnostic skills in surgical pathology and clinicopathologic collaborations with clinical care providers. The pathologists have a close working relationship with the academic pathologists at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with ready access to consultations and state of the art ancillary services, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and molecular pathology.

The hospital is a part of the UPMC Health System, an integrated global healthcare enterprise affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh. The pathologist will have a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh at the Clinical Assistant Professor level.

Cytopathology Faculty Opportunity at Washington University

The section is currently staffed by three pathologists and receives ~15,600 specimens per year, including 7,250 Pap smears and 2,320 fine needle aspirates. The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine (the University of Michigan Health System) is seeking an experienced surgical pathologist with subspecialty training and expertise in gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology. Our active GI pathology service accessions over 23,000 biopsy and surgical cases in addition to over 3,000 extramural consultation cases. Our clinical GI Pathology Fellowship attracts nationally competitive candidates annually, and we have recently created a research-track fellowship as well.

The successful candidate will have an established track record of peer-reviewed publications in GI and hepatic pathology with regional or national recognition. He or she will have ample protected time to pursue research interests. Excellent diagnostic skills appropriate to tertiary level subspecialty GI sign-out (including liver and pancreas), effective communication skills, board certification in Anatomic Pathology, and a commitment to excellent patient care are required.
