Academic Surgical & GI Pathologist
PORTLAND, OREGON (USA).
The Department of Pathology at OHSU seeks an academic surgical pathologist with expertise in gastrointestinal pathology. A second surgical pathology subspecialty or cytopathology interest is preferred. Qualified applicants will be AP or AP/CP Board-certified, have completed a relevant pathology fellowship and have at least 3-5 years experience. The candidate should have strong communication skills, demonstrated engagement in scholarly activities and a sincere interest in teaching pathology residents and fellows.
The Department of Pathology handles approximately 22,000 surgical pathology cases each year, including more than 5,000 in house GI cases and 600 GI consult cases. The OHSU Digestive Health Center offers providers a rich collaborative environment and has actively grown over the last decade. With a multidisciplinary healthcare team that includes more than 30 surgeons and gastroenterologists, this health center offers patients an exceptional personalized, coordinated care experience.
OHSU is a major regional referral center and is home to nationally ranked Doernbecher Children's Hospital, the Knight Cancer Institute, an international leader in cancer research and treatment, and other well-known institutes, offering a variety of collaborative research opportunities. The Department of Pathology has a collegial faculty, 12 residents, 3 post-sophomore medical students, and fellows in surgical pathology (2), cytopathology, hematopathology (2), neuropathology and molecular pathology. We are supported by excellent molecular genetic laboratories and a state-of-the-art core laboratory.
