The Department of Pathology, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine/VCU
Health System, is seeking a full-time Hematopathologist. Academic rank is Assistant or Associate
Professor commensurate with experience. At the rank of Assistant Professor the candidate should
be able to demonstrate professional competence in the field of Hematopathology, a continuous
record of clinical service activity, teaching experience and a strong interest and/or potential for
scholarship. At the rank of Associate Professor, the performance of the candidate should indicate a
progressive and sustained record of professional achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service,
including teaching at a local or regional level, maturity and professional competence in independent
scholarship, and creative contributions in administrative and/or clinical service.
candidate will be certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical
Pathology and will be board certified or board eligible in Hematopathology. Specialty training
and/or board certification in Molecular Pathology is preferred. This individual will instruct medical
students, participate in the training of pathology residents and hematology fellows, and actively
participate in the strong academic interactions of the VCU Massey Cancer Center Multi-disciplinary
Hematology Malignancy and Bone Marrow Transplant programs. Expertise in molecular
diagnostics, flow cytometry, and lymph node pathology is preferred. This faculty member will
participate in a busy hematology laboratory, which includes sections for body fluids analysis,
coagulation and a high volume bone marrow and lymph node diagnostic service.

in fostering collaborative relationships with clinicians and researchers as well as serving as a
