Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Lab Manager
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (USA). bioTheranostics, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Lab Manager to join our team.
Job Description
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Lab Manager will oversee all functions of the bioTheranostic’s CLIA laboratory. These functions are:
• Molecular Testing
○ Supervise daily sample tracking and accessioning
• Supervise customer service
○ Running molecular assays (e.g., CancerTYPE ID)
• Supervise clinical laboratory scientists (CLS’s)
○ Test reporting
○ Customer service
• Quality Management and Compliance
○ Implement Quality Management Plan that is compliant with regulatory agencies (i.e., NY State, CAP, CLIA) that monitors essential performance characteristics of the lab and identifies and prevents recurrence of problems
○ Monitor various lab licenses and ensure compliance with state and federal agencies
• Laboratory Information System (LIS)
○ Monitoring a LIS system that encompasses the needs of all aspects of sample processing and test reporting and quality management
• Bringing new molecular tests “on-line”
○ Work with R&D, as necessary, to generate the necessary SOP’s and validation reports for implementing a new test
Required Job Qualifications
• 5-10 years of molecular testing experience and a California clinical laboratory scientist license or a California CLS (sp)-molecular biology license
• Extensive “hands-on” experience in implementing PCR-based assays using state-of-the-art instrumentation (e.g., real time RT-PCR with ABI 7900HT)
• Experience and know-how in setting up and implementing a quality management plan that enables the clinical laboratory to be compliant with regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA, & NY State)
• Experience with laboratory regulations (State and Federal) and the filing of required paperwork
• Supervisorial experience and an excellent track record of successfully managing a team of clinical laboratory scientists
• American Society for Clinical Pathology MT (ASCP) preferred

Laboratory Director
BRATTLEBORO, VERMONT (USA). Brattleboro Memorial Hospital has an opening for a Laboratory Director to manage and coordinate all activities of the clinical lab.
BMH is a not-for-profit community hospital which has provided comprehensive care to local residents in the tri-state area for more than 100 years. The area’s only full-service healthcare facility, BMH provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including radiology, laboratory, surgical, and emergency services, 24 hours a day. More than 100 board-certified physicians covering most specialties, along with an excellent clinical and administrative staff, provide care to the greater Brattleboro area. Diagnostic equipment available in the Radiology Department includes MRI, multi-slice CT and SPECT scans, ultrasound, X-ray, and digital mammography. BMH recently added a 35,000 sq. ft. outpatient building to its campus, providing the community with even more excellent and convenient up-to-date health care.
The Laboratory at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is a CAP accredited, full-service laboratory. The Lab is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week, by certified Medical Technologists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Secretaries, Lab Assistants, Phlebotomists, a Histotechnologist and a Transcriptionist. The Lab consists of the following departments: Transfusion Service, Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Microbiology/Serology, Urinalysis and Phlebotomy, Histology/Anatomic Pathology and clerical support staff.
Job Description:
The Laboratory Director coordinates a wide variety of administrative, fiscal and technical activities to ensure effective operation of the Lab. Establishes departmental policies/procedures and assures compliance. Maintains lab standards for CAP certification. Maintains lab QA program. Works with administration and pathologist in problem-solving. Critical competencies include the following:
• Demonstrates the ability to manage the total financial picture of the department to maximize income and minimize expenses.
• Provides leadership for quality/performance improvement programs for the laboratory to ensure high quality of services.
• Designs and implements the communication plan for the laboratory to promote employee understanding, involvement and commitment in department function.
• Ensures that the laboratory staff has appropriate technical support, equipment and supplies to perform their duties.
• Oversees and assists in maintaining the laboratory information system.
Qualifications:

Director, Laboratory Operations
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON (USA). Virginia Mason Medical Center a regional referral, teaching and research center in Seattle, WA is seeking a Director, Laboratory Operations.
1. Works with the Department Chief, AD and laboratory managers, to implement laboratory-specific customer service, human resource, and financial goals & objectives consistent with VMMC's strategic plan and goals.
2. Responsible for direct oversight of Anatomic Pathology encompassing all aspects of operations and human resource management. This includes working with AP leadership to forecast and meet AP financial and operational goals. It also includes assisting AP leadership in staff recruitment and retention, analyzing staff mix and deploying staff, ensuring competency of staff through development and regular evaluation, and providing disciplinary counseling.
3. Works with AD & Chief to plan and operationalize VMPS and other projects within the laboratory.
4. Works with AD to forecast staffing, capital and operating budget needs and in evaluating and reporting on the laboratory's financial situation, space utilization, etc. Assists AD in monitoring performance of plan and makes adjustments as needed.
5. Works with Chief, AD and laboratory leadership to plan and organize staff and facilities to meet customer needs. Ensures routine maintenance is performed, problems corrected and systems in place to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for staff and service delivery.
6. Participates in organization-wide committees to establish or improve customer service and administrative plans and policies.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Business Administration, or Healthcare administration or a similar field; 7 years progressively responsible laboratory management experience; proven proficiency in financial management; the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and concisely to a variety of audiences; and strong Human Resources skills. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
