General Description / scope of Services

MLabs is driving tomorrow’s health care solutions with personalized laboratory information and consultation. With over 25 years of reference laboratory experience, MLabs brings together the sophisticated testing and informatics capabilities of the fully accredited U-M laboratories to provide comprehensive high quality molecular and diagnostic laboratory testing to our clients and the patients they serve. The goal of our Anatomic and Hematopathology Consultation Service is to help pathologists meet demands in their own practice for rapid and accurate pathology results by delivering the expertise of our faculty in a way that is personal, collegial and supportive.

Typical turnaround time

Molecular Diagnostic tests average TAT is 4 days.
Most second opinion consultations are rendered within 24-48 hours of receipt.
STAT testing available

We will work with you to accommodate Stat testing necessary for the immediate care of the patient.
Delivery of specimens
=========================================================================
Courier service within 100 miles service area or anywhere in the US via Federal Express.
Report Delivery
=========================================================================
MLabs can provide results via secured email, through MLabs Connect, a web-based secure system, via autofax or discuss alternative interface solution.
Billing
=========================================================================
MLabs can bill directly to referring institution or will bill the patient or patient’s insurance carrier directly for tests performed by MLabs provided we can do so successfully. Under Medicare rules, MLabs cannot bill Medicare if the patient is classified as a hospital inpatient or outpatient, or was an inpatient in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) on the date of service.
