Definition / General
  • Plasma cell neoplasm that forms discrete mass
  • Very rare in adrenal gland, with < 20 cases reported
  • Must exclude myeloma (negative bone marrow biopsy, no hypercalcemia, anemia or renal insufficiency)

  • Plasma cell neoplasm that forms discrete mass
  • Very rare in adrenal gland
  • Mostly incidental findings on imaging studies
Clinical Features
  • Mostly presented as incidentaloma on imaging studies
  • Clinical manifestations nonspecific
Laboratory
  • Presence of M protein and elevation of monoclonal lambda or kappa light chain
Prognostic Factors
  • Favorable prognosis for extra-osseous plasmacytoma compared to osseous plasmacytoma
    • 30% recur locally, 40% disseminate, 17% - 33% progress to multiple myeloma

Treatment
  • No clear treatment guidelines
  • Surgical excision, radiotherapy, chemotherapy
  • Combined surgery and radiotherapy
