● Often women, mean 46 years old (range 37-70 years)
● Often due to lymphoid hyperplasia, endometriosis or adenoma
● May be associated with adenovirus infection or appendicitis (Arch Pathol Lab Med 1990;114:106, Hum Pathol 1981;12:193), endometriosis or adenoma (Arch Pathol Lab Med 1992;116:960)
