Gross description
  • Usually involves deep subcutis
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Necrotizing vasculitis, fat necrosis with microcalcifications, hyaline sclerosis of adipose
  • Also lymphocytic infiltration surrounding the necrosis, panniculitis and changes of discoid lupus erythematosis in overlying skin (Indian J Radiol Imaging 2009;19:170)
