Definition / general
- Uncommon anomaly most often seen in infants, occasionally in adults, due to improper embryologic rotation of gut
- Also defined as intestinal malrotation as intestinal nonrotation or incomplete rotation around the superior mesenteric artery (eMedicine)
- Symptoms may first occur in women during pregnancy (Obstet Gynecol 1993;81:817)
