  • Associated with interfollicular (T cell) zones in lymphoid tissue
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • May cause paracortex to look mottled
  • Resemble Langerhans cells
  • Abundant, clear and pale cytoplasm with ill defined borders
  • Have large and bizarre nucleus with deep clefts and folds
  • Delicate almost transparent chromatin, inconspicuous nucleoli

  • Have complex cell processes that interdigitate with T cells, but NO desmosomes and NO Birbeck granules
