Definition / general
  • Almost always represents metastatic disease to lymph node
  • May represent regional or distant metastasis
  • Originates from malignant endothelial cells
Clinical features
  • Nodal metastasis reported in 13.5% of angiosarcomas (Ann Surg 1993;217:72)
  • Incidence of nodal spread is relatively high compared to other sarcoma types
  • Aggressive tumor with poor prognosis

  • Radical lymphadenectomy for isolated regional metastasis
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Anastomosing vascular channels lined by anaplastic tumor cells
  • May be papillary
  • Infiltrative borders
