- Infection is usually limited to lymph nodes (“bubo”, as in bubonic plague)
- Pneumonic plague occurs if bacterial are aerosolized (eMedicine, Wikipedia)
- Depletion of lymphocytes, edema, necrosis, foamy macrophages
- Bacteria may involve blood vessels
