System based monitors
  1. Develop an understanding of the basic concepts and terms in clinical molecular pathology
  2. Develop an understanding of the organization and function of the different technical sections of the molecular pathology laboratory
  3. Develop a clear understanding of the cytologic samples that can be used for molecular testing
  4. Develop an understanding of the validity and practicability of various molecular tests used in your practice and their cost effectiveness in laboratory utilization and resource allocation that does not compromise quality care
  5. Develop a clear understanding of the government regulations for your State, CLIA, CAP, JCAHO, HIPAA / patient data security requirements for practice management
  6. Demonstrate a clear understanding of basic billing requirements (ICD-9 and CPT codes) and reimbursement policies in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid
  7. Develop an understanding of quality assurance and quality control issues relative to molecular pathology; this includes but is not limited to:

    • Using validation protocols and appropriate controls for each molecular test
