Definition / general
  • Rare at any site, only a few cases described in nasal cavity or nasopharynx
  • Usually is a periampullary tumor, although also described in jejunum, appendix, stomach
  • Not related to true paragangliomas
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Triphasic with epithelioid, spindle cell (nerve sheath-like) and ganglion cell-like elements

1B: ganglion-like cells with abundant amphophilic cytoplasm, large hyperchromatic nuclei and prominent nucleoli
