Definition / general
  • 2% present as primary lesion of nasopharynx or nasal cavity
  • Some may arise as Rathke pouch remnants
  • Usually chromophobe type
  • Difficult to distinguish benign and malignant tumors by histology; must depend on presence of metastases; tumors with high MIB1 but p53- have uncertain malignant potential; tumors with high MIB1 and p53 expression act like carcinomas

  • Rosette or ribbon pattern of polygonal cells with prominent, delicate vascular stroma
Differential diagnosis
