Definition / general
  • Uncommon; resembles Sertoli and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors
  • Usually age 60-70 years, older than Sertoli tumors (mean 25 years)
  • Good prognosis if limited to ovary (Arch Pathol Lab Med 2007;131:979)
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Compact anastomosing cords and small tubules within fibrous stroma without desmoplasia
  • Usually low grade nuclear features, mucin at apical border of tumor cells
  • Associated with classic endometrioid carcinoma in all cases, often with squamous metaplasia
  • Usually focal adenofibroma component
