Definition

● Benign cystic lesions that may be confused with testicular tumors

 

Sites

● Anterior and lateral aspect of the testis

 

Etiology

● Mesothelial rests trapped during embryonic development (J Urol 1975;114:730)

 

Clinical features

● Tumor or painful swelling

● Incidental finding in some cases

● Cystic lesions with clear fluid

● Connected to the tunica albuginea

● Cysts lined by low cuboidal or columnar cells, may be ciliated

● Gland-like structures in fibrous walls and tunica albuginea

● May contain psammoma bodies (Int J Urol 2001;8:520)
