Definition / general
- Most common malignancy of spleen, although lymphomas restricted to the spleen are uncommon
- Usually due to lymphoma elsewhere, particularly follicle center cell lymphoma, lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, splenic marginal zone lymphoma, SLL / CLL; often involvement of splenic hilar or abdominal lymph nodes
- Occasionally is primary site of lymphoma - most common types are diffuse large B cell lymphoma and splenic marginal zone lymphoma
- Patterns of lymphoma involvement are homogenous, miliary, multiple masses or solitary mass
