Terminology

● Also called BG-7, anti-Lex, Lewis X antibody

 

Physiology

● Recognizes the type 2 chain of the Lewis X blood group antigen

 

Uses

● Possibly for screening high risk population for bladder carcinoma (J Urol 2002;168:470)

 

Positive stains - normal

=========================================================================

● Granulocytes

● Some endothelial cells or erythrocytes

 

Positive stains - disease

=========================================================================

● Bladder carcinoma

● Reed-Sternberg cells (Cancer 1991;67:1338)

● Granulocytic sarcoma

● Rare epithelioid histiocytes

 

Negative stains

=========================================================================

● Interdigitating reticulum cell sarcoma

● Langerhans cell histiocytoma

● Malignant histiocytosis

● Monoblastic leukemia

● Reticulohistiocytoma

● Most reactive lymph node conditions
