Definition / general
  • BUB1B (Budding-uninhibited-by-benzimidazoles-1-homolog-beta), also called BUBR1 (budding uninhibited by benzimidazole-related (GeneCards)
  • Mitotic checkpoint kinase required for cell mitotic division following severe cell damage or mutation
  • Delay onset of anaphase until all chromosomes are properly bi-oriented on mitotic spindle (Trends Biochem Sci 2011;36:141)
  • Associated with cell proliferation in neoplastic and nonneoplastic tissues
  • Function is dosage dependent; reductions cause premature chromatid separation or aneuploidy, depending on magnitude of reduction (Hum Genet 2008;124:473)
