● 190kDa transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein and member of MRP / ABCC subfamily of ATP binding cassette transporters
● Overexpressed in various human multidrug resistant tumor cell lines
● Does not cross react with P-glycoprotein (mdr1, mdr3)
Subtypes:
MRP4 – transports molecules involved in cellular signalling (Trends Pharmacol Sci 2008;29:200)
