  • Associated with E. coli, Klebsiella, Yersinia, Mycobacteria and R. equi
  • Case report associated with gastric adenocarcinoma (Arch Pathol Lab Med 1978;102:136)
Gross Description
  • Slightly elevated plaque with umbilication of overlying mucosa
Micro Description
  • Submucosal histiocytes with cytoplasmic inclusions (Michaelis-Gutmann bodies) that are positive for calcium with von Kossa stain
Electron Microscopy Description
  • Inclusions have dense central calcified body and concentric alternating rings
