Gross description
  • Well circumscribed, soft, grayish tan, cut section shows hemorrhage and necrosis
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Cellular tumor
  • Small cells arranged in aggregates or rosettes with central cellular debris
  • Homer-Wright rosettes, separated by delicate fibrovascular cores
  • Cells are small, monomorphic, hyperchromatic with indistinct cytoplasm and nucleoli
  • Neurofibrillary background
