● Typical adenosarcoma overgrown by pure sarcoma that accounts for at least 25% of the tumor
Terminology

● Also called adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth
Clinical features
=========================================================================
● Occurs in 1/3 of adenosarcomas (Am J Surg Pathol 2009;33:278)
● Aggressive, 45%-70% recur, usually in pelvis
● Patients may develop metastases and die of disease (Am J Surg Pathol 1989;13:28)

● Typical adenosarcoma overgrown by pure sarcoma that accounts for at least 25% of the tumor
● Resembles malignant phylloides tumor
● May have heterologous sarcoma component; rhabdomyosarcoma is most common
