Definition / general
  • Benign polypoid outgrowth presenting in neonatal period or adolescence in vaginal hymenal ring
  • May occur due to elevated estrogen levels
  • Clinical history, physical examination and morphologic pathologic examination
Case reports
  • Usually regresses in neonatal period
  • Excision (with preservation of hymen) may be considered in adolescent or young adult females to exclude other pathology or for cosmetic reasons
Gross description
  • Soft polypoid mass or outgrowth

  • Fibrovascular tissue with overlying squamous epithelium
