The Department of Pathology at the UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital of Pittsburgh, invites interested applicants to apply for a combined Breast/GYN Pathology Fellowship (clinical instructorship) position available for the year 2023-2024.
This 12 month non-ACGME subspecialty pathology training for 3 trainees in a large academic tertiary care specialty hospital of the UPMC Health System focuses predominantly on health issues unique to women throughout their lives.
The clinical instructorship includes graduated independent sign-out of breast and gynecologic biopsy and resection specimens, including intraoperative gross and frozen section consultations. Supplemental training is flexible and typically includes gynecologic cytology, perinatal pathology, and molecular pathology.

The Department of Pathology at Magee has over 24,000 surgical pathology accessions (breast, gynecologic, and perinatal pathology specimens) and over 40,000 gynecologic cytology specimens per year.
The program has a staff of 12 faculty members dedicated to breast/gynecologic pathology and 2 dedicated to perinatal pathology and research, and subspecialty support rendered by members of other divisions in the Department of Pathology. Our faculty covers the full spectrum of interests and expertise, including breast tumors, gynecologic cancers, placental and developmental pathology, gynecologic cytopathology, informatics and others. Our fellows are exposed to routine examples of breast/gynecologic diseases to cases of the highest complexity of modern medicine. The eligibility criteria includes an MD or an equivalent degree, having completed training in an ACGME accredited AP or AP/CP program, should be a US citizen or permanent resident, eligible for a full unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license and an ability to obtain staff privileges at UPMC.
