Openings for 2021
Clinical Chemistry, Department of Clinical Pathology at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, located in Royal Oak, Michigan, is accepting applications for its ACGME-accredited one-year fellowship program beginning July 2021. The program provides a strong foundation in laboratory procedures and instrumentation, laboratory automation, test interpretation, quality assurance, use of laboratory tests in the evaluation of disease and laboratory management. In addition, the fellow is provided with adequate time and resources for research and is exposed to the laboratory's outreach program. The chemistry sections (routine, stat and special chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, electrophoresis, toxicology) perform over 4 million tests each year.
Prerequisites: Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Pathology (AP/CP or CP). Candidates must also hold a license (or eligibility) to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.

Fellowship in Clinical Chemistry
Opening 2021-2023
The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is offering a two-year fellowship position in Clinical Chemistry. This fellowship is accredited by ComACC, and trainees will also be eligible to apply for a Focused Practice Designation by the ABP upon completion.
Description
The goal of the two year MSKCC Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program is to prepare fellows to function as a laboratory director of a high complexity laboratory. The curriculum consists of multiple components. These include formal lectures, didactic sessions, a series of laboratory roations at MSKCC and Columbia University Medical Center. There is a clinical service component which includes on call clinical consultation as well as laboratory test interpretation/signout. Fellows are also expected to complete a translational research project which usually involves clinical assay development/validation. Fellows will also get to serve as acting director of certain sections of the clinical chemistry laboratory, and assume responsibility for laboratory and patient issues under the supervision of an attending.
Most training will occur at the newly constructed MSK Center for Laboratory Medicine building. This building houses state of the art automation as well as a wide variety of brand new clinical laboratory analyzers. The clinical chemistry service participates in the development and validation of many laboratory developed tests (LDT's) that are unavailable in most hospital laboratories. The department also provides the opportunity to participate in industry funded evaluations of cutting edge in vitro diagnostic devices, and also has extensive collaboration with the clinical departments at MSKCC to validate biomarkers for potential clinical use.
Eligibility
MDs or MD/PhDs who have completed or are in the process of completing CP or AP/CP training in the US/Canada and board eligible by ABP.
