Hematopathologist

The Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position from academic Hematopathologists with a research interest in hematopoietic or lymphoid disorders for the Diagnostic Laboratory Section of Hematopathology. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
The UIC Department of Pathology is among the country’s fastest-growing academic departments and is structured to provide a unique environment to foster the development of academic careers. UIC is the country’s largest and most diverse medical school and ranks among the top colleges of medicine in the growth of extramural grant funding. The Department hosts an ACGME accredited Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency program and several ACGME accredited fellowships including a fellowship in Hematopathology.
In addition to providing medical education, diagnostic services for neoplastic hematopathology, clinical laboratory hematology and flow cytometry to support strong clinical programs in hematologic disorders, the successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a program in translational research at UIC.
Significant diagnostic experience with hematolymphoid malignancies and clinical laboratory hematology is required for this position. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of scholarly achievement.
Candidates for this position must have an MD or DO degree, qualify for a license to practice medicine in Illinois, and possess board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology and subspecialty certification in Hematopathology.

AP/CP Board Certified Pathologist
EASTERN SHORE, MARYLAND (USA).
Community hospital-based pathology group is seeking an AP/CP board certified pathologist with subspecialty fellowship training and board eligible for a full-time, partnership track position or other employment model. The group consists of 28 pathologists with a broad depth of subspecialty expertise, providing services to eleven area hospitals with significant outreach involvement throughout the regional community. This well-respected group has been providing quality pathology services to the local Maryland /DC medical community for 53 years.
Both AP and CP coverage is required and able to serve as a medical director of a clinical laboratory division. Strong surgical pathology skills with 3-5 years’ experience desired. The practice has a robust volume of gastrointestinal, general urinary and breast pathology and general cytology. Fellowship training in one of these areas is preferred but not required.
Superior communication skills, strong work ethic, sound clinical judgment, thoroughness, and strong organizational skills are important qualities for this position. The hospital and departmental culture necessitate regular collaborative interactions with both the physician medical staff and laboratory staff. The applicant must be able to work within a dynamic large group structure that provides a broad level of service to multiple hospitals and embrace an established entrepreneurial spirit.

Faculty Leadership Position
Director, Francis Owen Blood Research Laboratory

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, is seeking exceptional candidates for a tenure track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be appointed as the Director of the Francis Owen Blood Research Laboratory (FOBRL), a large animal research facility. The Director will lead their own research program as well as help develop and foster collaborations with other investigators whose research depends on these large animal models. The mission of FOBRL is to reduce human and animal suffering from bleeding, thrombosis, and atherosclerosis via the study of unique genetically determined animal models of disease.
Work at FOBRL has helped to accelerate translatable discovery science in coagulation and hemostasis research and helped to produce the scientific evidence for the safe and efficacious introduction of novel therapeutics into clinical practice for dogs and humans. Much of the work at FOBRL has been continuously funded by NIH grants and contracts since 1947. In addition to enabling novel translational research, FOBRL represents an excellent training resource for graduate students and veterinarian trainees.
Applicants should have an interest and record of funded research in blood-based disease, preferably research supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Applicants from a wide variety of relevant interests will be considered, including but not limited to gene therapy, diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, pathology, veterinary medicine, blood banking, biomedical engineering, and novel drug development. The department has a Ph.D. graduate student training program and pathology residency and fellowship programs.
The UNC Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM) faculty are also members of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. DCM faculty and staff play active roles in the successful on-going research activities at FOBRL.

Pediatric Cardiovascular Pathology Position

The Department of Pathology at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) is seeking to expand its faculty in the Division of Anatomic Pathology with a M.D., D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. board-certified or board-eligible pathologist at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine. Pediatric pathology subspecialty training is strongly preferred but not required.
Expansion in the size and scope of Texas Children’s Hospital necessitates additional support in pediatric surgical and autopsy pathology, placental/perinatal pathology, solid organ transplant pathology, and cytopathology services. Additional subspecialty services include neuropathology, hematopathology, electron microscopy and gynecologic pathology. The combined annual surgical case volume exceeds 17,000 specimens from pediatric and gynecologic surgeries and obstetric deliveries, with approximately 3,000 additional cytopathology cases and 120 pediatric and perinatal autopsies annually.
Candidates must have interest/expertise in pediatric cardiovascular pathology to include congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and transplant pathology. Experience with myocardial ultrastructure is also desirable. The candidate will provide pathology support to the Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery departments at Texas Children’s Hospital, both of which have repeatedly been ranked #1 in the United States. The hospital also has an active and growing Adult Congenital Heart Service. The pediatric heart transplant service is the largest in the nation, with an average of 29 heart transplants each year. Cardiovascular postmortem hearts specimens average 22 per year. There is ample opportunity for collaborative research.
The successful candidate will also serve as curator for the Congenital Heart Museum which includes a collection of approximately 1500 hearts with a broad range of cardiovascular pathology ranging from malformations, to myopathies and metabolic diseases. The museum provides an essential resource for interactive teaching with the clinical services and Pathology trainees. A proportion of the successful candidate’s clinical effort will include participation in Surgical and Autopsy Pathology services, as appropriate for the candidate’s prior training/experience.

Position Description

Adult services within the TCH complex include the Pavilion for Women, a stand-alone center for high risk obstetrics, gynecology, fetal medicine and fetal surgery; and the newly opened Adult Congenital Heart program, located in Legacy Tower. The broader TCH facilities network is comprised of the West Campus, a community hospital in suburban West Houston; and The Woodlands, the first hospital devoted to children’s care for communities north of Houston. Scheduled to open in 2024 is the Presidio Campus, located in Austin, which will extend TCH’s reach beyond the greater Houston area.
Expansion in the size and scope of Texas Children’s Hospital necessitates additional support in pediatric surgical and autopsy pathology, placental/perinatal pathology, solid organ transplant pathology, and cytopathology services. Additional subspecialty services include neuropathology, hematopathology, electron microscopy and gynecologic pathology. The combined annual surgical case volume exceeds 17,000 specimens from pediatric and gynecologic surgeries and obstetric deliveries, 3,000 additional cytopathology cases and 110 pediatric and perinatal autopsies annually. Within the Department of Pathology at TCH are additional Divisions of Genomic Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Informatics, Transfusion and Coagulation, Community Pathology, and Discovery.
Pathologists at Texas Children's Hospital have primary full-time academic appointments in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, and are expected to contribute to educational and scholarly activities in the Department of Pathology based at Texas Children's Hospital, as well as pathology resident and fellow education. There are exceptional opportunities for collaboration and research activities that include TCH and extend across numerous institutions within the Texas Medical Center.

The successful applicant must have exceptionally strong pediatric pathology skills involving the entire spectrum of surgical, hematologic and cytologic specimens, as well as strong communication and leadership skills. Clinical Chemist – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Pathology and Laboratory Services at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is expanding. We have an opening for a full-time Clinical Chemist. This position will report to the Director of Clinical Pathology, and the chemist will join an experienced group of 20 PhD laboratory scientists and pathologists. The department is known for outstanding pediatric anatomic and clinical pathology services, including a national presence in pediatric pathology and laboratory medicine.
Successful candidates should demonstrate competency in general pediatric clinical chemistry, including mass spectometry. In conjunction with the current Director of Clinical Chemistry, you will provide oversight over clinical chemistry, to include all aspects related to the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes for clinical specimens. You will also provide direct oversight for Point of Care (POC) testing and urinalysis, and may provide oversight over phlebotomy and referral lab, as needed. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) affiliated with the DPLM of The Ohio State University College of Medicine seek an academic anatomic neuropathologist at the level of assistant, associate or full professor to join one of the largest pediatric pathology and laboratory medicine departments in the U.S.
The DPLM has an experienced faculty of over 30 pathologists and doctoral scientists and accessions over 8,000 surgical specimens, over 1,200 cytology specimens and performs over 90 autopsies per year. The Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) clinical laboratory processes 7,000 specimens a year. IGM and AP collaborate closely, and AP faculty participate in assessment of material submitted for clinical molecular testing as well as material submitted for the national molecular characterization initiative (MCI) for solid tumors. Neuro-oncology cases contribute to half of these cases.

The Department of Pathology is seeking a full-time faculty member to join our Division of Molecular and Genomics Pathology, encompassing the Clinical Cytogenetics, Michigan Medical Genetics, and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories. This individual will assist the Division Technical Director to support the technical operational activities of the division, including assay development/validation and continuous clinical production and regulatory compliance.
The ideal applicant will have an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD. Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) is required, and experience with comprehensive genomic profiling and whole-exome or whole genome sequencing and variant analysis is highly desired. This clinical track appointment will be at a rank commensurate with candidate experience and accomplishments. There is opportunity to participate in sign-out of clinical cases for individuals with appropriate certification (Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or other appropriate ABMGG board certification, or Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship or other relevant ABP certification).

Position Responsibilities
- Clinical: Responsible for day-to-day sign-out of cases in an academic Cytopathology and Surgical Pathology (primarily Head and Neck Pathology) services. The Cytopathology and Surgical Pathology service encounters a wide variety of neoplastic and non-neoplastic cases.
- Service: Participation in tumor boards and other conferences with clinical colleagues is required. Participation in departmental, institutional and national committees when necessary.
- Teaching: Supervision of residents is required. Will also contribute to the education of residents, medical students, and ancillary staff. Participation in undergraduate and graduate education required.

Anatomic Pathology Instructor

Applications are invited for Anatomic Pathology Instructor positions in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The successful candidates will join a subspecialized anatomic pathology division supporting the clinical and academic missions of an internationally recognized department. One year of prior fellowship training in surgical pathology or a surgical pathology subspecialty is preferred (senior residents with outstanding record of excellent diagnostic skills will also be considered). Positions are one year in duration (consideration may be given to a second year), with independent sign-out after initial brief period of supervision and proctoring, coupled with active role in resident education on a daily basis, responsibilities in an active intraoperative consultation service (Frozen Sections) and tumor board coverage, with availability of protected time on a weekly basis for preparation for educational responsibilities/other duties as applicable. Instructors will rotate through core subspecialties, with room for emphasis on subspecialties of interest during the second half of the year. In addition, up to 4 weeks of elective service time are granted, which may be used for an additional subspecialty rotation in anatomic pathology of personal interest.
The instructor will have the unique opportunity to work with subspecialized pathologists with substantial expertise in their fields, providing both exceptional educational as well as practical experience, emerging with the confidence of independent and competent practicing surgical pathologists in either a community or academic setting, or enter and excel into further subspecialty fellowship training, within or outside our department.
