Anatomic, General Or Hematopathologist – Lymphoma Pathologist
EDMONTON, ALBERTA (CANADA).
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta, is seeking a qualified full time Anatomical / General or Hematopathologist with sub-specialty training and expertise in the Pathology of Lymphoid Neoplasms.
The successful applicant will be an active member of the Edmonton Lymphoma Diagnostics Team. This group offers expert consultancy in lymphoproliferative disorders for all lymphoreticular and non-lymphoreticular organs (including GI, skin, and blood).
Teaching and interactions with a wide range of learners is a part of this role. Participation in collaborative research is expected. The potential development of an independent research program in the area of lymphoproliferative diseases is available.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology, General Pathology or Hematopathology by the RCPSC or recognized equivalence. The ideal candidate will have a recognized Fellowship in Lymphoma Pathology. Alternatively, training in Hematopathology with clear emphasis on lymphoid neoplasms or equivalent (minimum 5 years) clinical-academic experience may be suitable.
Compensation
Remuneration is commensurate with the level of fellowship training and experience. Remuneration range for a Pathologist in Alberta is $353,874.00 to $411,650.00. Relocation assistance is provided.

Hematopathologist

The successful candidate will join a hematopathology practice group that provides comprehensive diagnostic services on hematology, lymphoma, transfusion medicine, and immunology to the Province of Manitoba.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry and Golisano Children’s Hospital, in Rochester, NY is seeking a pediatric pathologist. The primary goal of the hemotherapy service is to mitigate the bleeding risks of critically ill inpatients with cardiovascular disease, including those with advanced cardiovascular devices, those who have undergone recent surgical interventions, and those with inherited and acquired bleeding disorders. Physicians covering the hemotherapy service must be comfortable with direct patient care and are expected to appropriately order and interpret routine and specialized hematology and coagulation assays. Additionally, they will be responsible for the appropriate ordering of blood product transfusions and hemostatic agents.

Position Description

The pathologists are involved in clinical consults which primarily include evaluation of peripheral blood smears, blood bank serology, and serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixation.
The candidate will be involved in general surgical and breast cancer conferences and participate in a rotating call schedule, approximately one week in every four.
The Department of Pathology does have a Pathologist Assistant, however, occasional grossing of specimens may be necessary. No autopsies are performed at this hospital.

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full time Anatomical Pathologist with fellowship training in Surgical Pathology and/or one or more sub-specialties of Surgical Pathology. The successful candidate will join a team of 95+ laboratory physicians and scientists working mostly at acute care institutions within a smaller group of pathologists. Participation in a multi-site anatomic pathology on-call rotation is expected.
APL is a multi-site, province-wide laboratory providing comprehensive laboratory services. APL South Sector processes 30+ million tests, 260,000 surgical specimens, 200,000 gynecologic cytology specimens, and 10,000 non-gynecologic cytology specimens annually. The successful candidate must have the ability to work in a setting with a similar case complexity.
APL is a publically funded wholly owned subsidiary corporation of Alberta Health Services (AHS), and is party to an affiliation agreement with the University of Calgary (UofC). Anatomical Pathologist / General Pathologist

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full time Anatomical Pathologist / General Pathologist for Chinook Regional Hospital. Chinook Regional Hospital is a regional institution located in Lethbridge and is the referral centre for 9 smaller rural hospitals. The catchment area has a population of 180,000 and serves the geographic area of southwestern Alberta. Chinook Regional Hospital is a 310-bed acute care facility, provides a comprehensive service for most specialties, and has an onsite cancer centre. The successful candidate will join a team of 8 laboratory physicians and is required to have excellent skills in surgical pathology and cytopathology. Additional expertise in hematopathology will be considered favorably.
The Chinook Regional Hospital laboratory has sections of anatomical pathology including cytology, hematology and transfusion medicine, biochemistry and microbiology and most testing is performed onsite in Lethbridge. Comprehensive onsite immunohistochemistry is available. 21,000 surgical specimens, 2,600 non-gynecologic cytology specimens and 190 bone marrow biopsy specimens are processed annually.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta, and certification in Anatomic or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Compensation
An excellent remuneration package including relocation assistance is provided. The pathologist will function as a contractor with APL. This is a medical position performed in the Laboratory under standard operating procedures. The position requires decisions which are subject to be reviewed by the Medical Director of Laboratory Services. Exercises minimal supervision or work direction over employees in the areas of Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Histology, and Cytology and may occasionally provide training for new employees. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Education: Doctor of Medicine with residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology required.
Licensure/Certification: Certified as a Diplomat American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
Desired experience:
- Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology board certified or board eligible.
- 3 to 5 years' experience in general surgical pathology preferred but not necessary if the candidate has strong surgical pathology training or experience.
- Fellowship training in one of the following preferred but not necessary: Gastrointestinal pathology, pulmonary pathology, dermatopathology, gynecologic and/or breast pathology, neuropathology, blood banking, or hematopathology.

Molecular Pathologist
CLEVELAND, OHIO (USA).
The Molecular Pathology and Cytogenomics Section within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute (PLMI) at the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, OH) is seeking an appropriately boarded MD or PhD to join our Professional Staff.
The Section supports the testing needs of the Cleveland Clinic Health System and Cleveland Clinic Laboratories, our regional and national outreach program. The Section houses Cytogenomics and Molecular Diagnostics services and offers clinical laboratory testing based on cytogenetics, FISH, chromosomal microarrays, next generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, and more. Responsibilities are based on a “Patients First” attitude with an emphasis on professional interpretive services and close interaction with clinical colleagues. The Section hosts a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program. An essential element of the job is mentoring and teaching residents and fellows.
The Molecular Pathology team is dedicated to efficient operation of the laboratory that includes, but is not limited to, test menu expansion via new test development and validation, mentoring of medical technologists, laboratory resources management and stewardship, quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, regulatory compliance, efficient communication with clinical and administrative colleagues, teaching of residents and fellows, results interpretation and test sign-out, and more. The Section runs test for both oncology (solid tumor and hematological-based) and constitutional genetics.
Applicants ideally have diagnostic expertise and scholarly accomplishments and/or potential in an area of Molecular Genetic Pathology and/or Genomics. Although the majority of the candidate’s efforts will be in clinical operations, participation in activities that support Cleveland Clinic’s educational and research mission is encouraged and expected.
Applicants should hold an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree. Certification by ABP/ABMGG in Molecular Genetic Pathology and/or by ABMGG in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics is essential. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University.
