Academic Molecular Pathologist

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Pathology is seeking a full-time faculty member for the Section of Molecular Pathology. Candidates with a clinical interest in solid tumor testing and/or constitutional genetic testing are preferred. The section supports the clinical and academic mission of the Medical Center with its broad test menu including germline conditions, hematopoietic neoplasm and solid tumor testing, and infectious disease assays. UAMS in Little Rock is the only academic health sciences university in the state of Arkansas. UAMS has a vibrant Cancer Center that serves the population of the entire state, with clinical specialty expertise in a broad range of solid organ and hematopoietic malignancies. UAMS also has an active transplant program and a strong affiliation with Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Molecular testing is performed on both UAMS and ACH campuses.

Academic Clinical Pathologist

The UC Davis Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is seeking academic clinical pathologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical (X) or the Health Sciences Clinical Series. Clinical duties will be in clinical chemistry, including subspecialties such as special chemistry and toxicology, as well as point-of-care testing and clinical informatics. One year of teaching experience is recommended. Participation in the research mission of the institution is also expected, either as a collaborator or as the intellectual leader of clinically-oriented research projects. Associate Professor to Professor - Hematopathologist

The Department of Pathology seeks a full time Faculty member (Associate Professor to Professor) whose primary role will be to serve as an expert, academic hematopathologist attending with split duties in anatomical and clinical pathology. This effort will be focused in subspecialty areas of hematopathology, but may include additional responsibilities in surgical pathology. Experience/familiarity with the new WHO classification system, including working knowledge of flow cytometry, cytogenetics and molecular genetics are expected. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team, inclusive of senior hematopathologists and molecular pathologists as well as clinicians and surgeons, thus strong communication and professionalism skills are expected. Given the acute nature of the work, night and weekend call in rotation with other attending pathologists will be required. Grady is a large public academic hospital which serves Atlanta and the surrounding community. It is the major training site for Emory School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine. Primary Responsibilities:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Indiana University is seeking a clinical chemist to expand the therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology program of the Indiana University Health laboratory system. Applicants must have experience developing, using, maintaining, and optimizing testing methods on the following types of instrumentation: HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS. The chemist will be responsible for technical leadership, training, quality assurance/quality control and regulatory compliance that are associated with laboratory-developed testing.
In addition to toxicology, this position will participate in a rotating sign-out service for interpreting electrophoresis results. This position will also serve as laboratory director for the Indiana University Newborn Screening Laboratory.

This section includes a state of the art clinical microbiology program providing bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, parasitology, and molecular microbiology services to more than a dozen acute care hospitals in the UH network, including UHCMC, Seidman Cancer Center, MacDonald Women’s Hospital, and Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. The clinical microbiology section includes three other physician faculty and an accomplished technical staff. The health system microbiology laboratory, including total laboratory automation, is centrally located at the flagship academic medical center UHCMC, which fosters daily collaborative interaction with adult and pediatric infectious disease teams.
The successful candidate will provide clinical and quality oversight of microbiology testing, provide clinical result interpretation and diagnostic expertise, engage with clinical colleagues and laboratory staff to ensure high quality clinical care, and engage in education and clinical or basic research programs. Instructional Assistant / Associate Level Faculty Position

The Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine, College of Medicine at Texas A&M invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the instructional Assistant or Associate levels. Engineering Medicine (ENMED) is a collaborative venture among Texas A&M College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering and Houston Methodist Hospital. ENMED graduates receive a MD degree and a Master of Engineering in four years. This first-in-the-nation program blends experiential learning in engineering innovation with medical school training to create a new kind of physician, a “physicianeer” with the goal of transforming health care. ENMED is located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC).
ENMED will consider applicants with expertise and experience in pre-clinical medical school instruction. Candidates must possess either a medical degree or a doctorate in a closely related discipline. An engineering background is a plus. Specific expertise is required in one or more core pre-clerkship curricular topics, including: pathology, gross anatomy, renal/genitourinary and integument/musculoskeletal.
Candidates will participate in developing and delivering the pre-clerkship curriculum and working with other members of the ENMED faculty to integrate medical training with instruction in engineering principles. Experience in development and/or oversight of a pre-clinical medical school curriculum, with preference for a flipped-classroom, active-learning approach, such as case and/or team-based learning, is preferred. In addition to instructional responsibilities, candidates will be expected to contribute to curricular development and development of innovative instructional methods and fostering collaboration among the three ENMED partners.

Clinical Immunology Laboratory Testing

Associate Medical Director of Clinical Microbiology

The Division of Laboratory Medicine within the Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia invites applications for an academically-oriented clinical microbiologist to serve as Associate Medical Director of Clinical Microbiology. Laboratory areas of Clinical Microbiology include specimen processing, bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular microbiology, special pathogens (Ebola Treatment Facility support), and limited parasitology. Our laboratory supports the infectious disease testing needs for the UVA Health System, including the Emily Couric Cancer Center, UVA Children’s Hospital, and a wide variety of associated outpatient facilities. The open position includes a leadership role in COVID testing for the UVA student population and for community surveillance.
The successful candidate will share laboratory responsibilities with the Director by providing medical and technical innovation and oversight, and consulting with clinical staff. They will support quality initiatives, contribute to educational programs (primarily pathology residents, infectious disease fellows, and medical technologists), lead assay development and validation, and develop collaborative and/or independent research activities.
