The Phoenix Children's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full-time Clinical Pathologist or Clinical Chemist to direct our Core Automated Chemistry section and Point of Care Testing Program at Main Campus, and to serve as CLIA Laboratory Director for one or more testing sites in our growing healthcare system.
Candidates must be a board-certified doctoral-level clinical laboratory scientist (PhD), or board-certified clinical pathologist (CP or AP/CP). Subspecialty board certification in Clinical Chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry or American Board of Pathology is strongly preferred. The Director of Core Chemistry and Point of Care will provide technical direction for our main campus laboratory, as well as core laboratories and waived testing within the network of care. Prior experience in validation of both moderate and high complexity chemistry testing is required. The successful candidate will lead the effort in a research initiative that aims to accelerate the pace and sophistication of data acquisition, analyses, and integration in computational pathology. The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are seeking candidates with a strong publication record and history of NIH or foundation grant funding in the areas of autoimmune diseases, basic immunology, cancer immunology, inflammation, viral disease, immunogenetics or computational biology. Applicants with additional experience in the area of translational immunology and precision immunology are highly desirable. The faculty member will be expected to maintain excellence in scholarship and initiate and sustain externally sponsored research program. It is also expected that the individual build collaborative local research networks across the University of Florida College of Medicine, nationally and internationally. The position also requires that the candidate mentor PhD or MD/PhD students in their lab as well as teach and develop graduate courses within the microbiology and immunology curricula. This individual will play a leadership role in expanding the institutional center of excellence in immunology as well as help lead precision medicine and AI driven initiatives in immunology that will integrate with clinical and preclinical research.

Primary responsibilities will technical, operational, and strategic oversight of the UF Health Shands Hospital Laboratory and other UF Health Shands off-site laboratories. This individual will serve as the CLIA Medical Director of our 1162 beds quaternary care hospital and will oversee operations of two stand-alone emergency facilities and multiple surgical centers. The successful candidate will be a key leader in the Department and at the hospital level. Our CLIA laboratory director interacts with stakeholders across the system to ensure the highest quality of laboratory-based and point of care testing for our UF Health patients.

The successful candidate must have a MD, DO, and/or PhD and be qualified by training/certification to interpret analyses relevant to diagnosis and management of human molecular genetic diseases. Additional preferred qualifications are training/certification to supervise and direct operations of a clinical molecular diagnostic laboratory. The growing laboratory performs molecular testing for solid tumors, hematopoietic neoplasms, germline testing, and molecular microbiological testing.

Clinical Biochemist

Responsibilities:

Translational Research Scientist
TORONTO, ONTARIO (CANADA).
The Laboratory Medicine Program of the University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a mid-career Ph.D. Scientist with proven prior experience in both translational health science and research commercialization. The expected start date will be December 1, 2022 or will be mutually agreed upon. The successful candidate will lead ongoing projects for new test development and commercialization and will work closely with our research groups within the University Health Network Laboratory Medicine Program on how to identify, enhance and promote the commercial value of our innovative testing.
The candidate will have documented leading experience in translational research including pre-clinical drug development and discovery and validation of novel disease biomarkers using modern proteomic-based technologies. Prior experience on research related to hereditary and rare genetic diseases, auto-immunity and brain-related associated pathologies would be an asset.
- The successful candidate will hold a PhD (in laboratory medicine, biology, biochemistry or relevant field) and/or MD, have demonstrable scientific leadership in their field, and a proven track record in publishing high quality, peer-reviewed research and in acquiring independent peer-reviewed research or commercialization-related funding.
- MBA or EIR experience would be an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of post-doctoral experience.
- Minimum 1 spin-off project creation.
Previous experience in entrepreneurship will be a major asset for this position.
