Responsibilities will include laboratory medical director oversight of both anatomic and clinical pathology laboratories, sign out of surgical pathology cases with emphasis in gynecologic, breast, and head and neck oncologic pathology as well as general surgical pathology, non-gynecologic cytopathology and shared on call responsibilities.
At least 3-5 years of medical director leadership is required with particular emphasis on a history of collaborating relationships with both hospital administration and medical staff leadership.

Clinical Pathologist

The transfusion medicine section is accredited by the AABB and College of American Pathologists (CAP). Approximately 10,000 units of pRBC are transfused yearly and this division supports Massive Transfusion Protocols (MTPs). This area is also responsible to provide transfusion consultation services for high-risk surgeries and ob-gyn operations. There is a large Sickle Cell patient population that is followed at the USA Health sickle cell clinic. There is no in-house donor collection center.
Molecular/next generation sequencing, immunohistochemistry, FISH, and electron microscopy laboratories are part of the sophisticated menu of tests available. The Department has a combined residency training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with 12 residents.
