The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are seeking candidates with a strong publication record and history of NIH or foundation grant funding in the areas of autoimmune diseases, basic immunology, cancer immunology, inflammation, viral disease, immunogenetics or computational biology. Applicants with additional experience in the area of translational immunology and precision immunology are highly desirable. The faculty member will be expected to maintain excellence in scholarship and initiate and sustain externally sponsored research program. It is also expected that the individual build collaborative local research networks across the University of Florida College of Medicine, nationally and internationally. The position also requires that the candidate mentor PhD or MD/PhD students in their lab as well as teach and develop graduate courses within the microbiology and immunology curricula. This individual will play a leadership role in expanding the institutional center of excellence in immunology as well as help lead precision medicine and AI driven initiatives in immunology that will integrate with clinical and preclinical research.
The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory has a long and illustrious track record in immunology research, particularly in relationship to animal models and clinical/translational autoimmune programs in the areas of Type 1 Diabetes, Lupus, cancer immunology, inflammation and immune regulation. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with background training in molecular biology and/or genomics, and would be open to and willing to learn new skills to keep up with the demands of the fast paced field of Molecular Genetic Pathology. Interest or any level of experience in bioinformatics or programming (R, Python or any language) and data analytics will be highly valued. This candidate should demonstrate Leadership abilities, excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and will work closely with Clinicians, Technical Staff, Lab Administration, and Pathologists in addressing the Medical Genetic Pathology testing needs of our adult and pediatric patients.

Molecular & Research Technologist

Scope of the Job
The appropriate candidate will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the molecular pathology laboratory with a focus on next-generation sequencing. The candidate will be responsible for validation of testing, running clinical samples, and running research samples.
Essential Functions
1. Perform basic molecular genetic techniques (nucleic acid isolation, PCR, sequencing, etc.)
2. Perform next-generation sequencing (extraction, library prep, sequencing, etc.)
3. Perform some analysis and interpretation of results
4. Maintain detailed documentation of procedures and results

Secondary Functions
Daily maintenance of laboratory, including the receipt and unpacking of reagents, cleaning of work surfaces, and routine ordering will be required. As needed, this individual will provide assistance to rotating residents and fellows who are on rotation or performing research projects.

AP/CP Board Certified Pathologist

Associated Pathologists, a private pathology group in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida, is seeking an AP/CP board certified or board eligible pathologist. Strong leadership skills are a requirement and candidates who have fellowship training in a subspecialty will be favored. Associated Pathologists is a dynamic, multispecialty group that includes 16 pathologists and is the leader of Pathology Services in the greater Tampa Bay Area. Our practice serves multiple Baycare Health System Hospitals including St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital North, St. Joseph’s Hospital South, South Florida Baptist Hospital, Winter Haven Hospital and in 2023 will begin serving BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel. The pathology group also serves as the Medical Director of the Baycare Esoteric Laboratory, which was jointly established by our group and the Baycare Healthcare System in 2011.
Our practice is highly complex, handling over 40,000 surgical cases per year including a large volume of adult and pediatric gastrointestinal, gynecologic, breast, urologic, ENT, neuropathologic and hematologic specimens. We have a full-service immunohistochemistry lab as well as the esoteric laboratory that includes flow cytometry, conventional cytogenetics, FISH, and molecular diagnostics, including NGS. Our clinical laboratory performs over 2 million tests annually.
Coverage will include responsibilities at St. Joseph’s Main Hospital as well as rotational responsibility at the peripheral hospitals. The successful applicant must have exceptionally strong surgical pathology skills as well as strong communication and leadership skills. Providing coverage and rotating at different locations may be required. The position is anticipated to be available in June or July 2023.
