The Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences at the University of Missouri School of Medicine is seeking an academically and research-oriented Cancer Biologist.
The Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences (PAS) is seeking to expand the scope of its research program, specifically research related to cancer biology. PAS seeks to hire a cancer biologist with a research focus on either cancer immunology or theranostics, including “liquid biopsies”, “cell-free DNA”, or exosomes, preferably with funded or fundable projects in translational immunotherapy or cell-based therapy, or new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. These topics are particularly timely in terms of the newly established Next Gen Precision Health Initiative. This initiative is designed to be a multidisciplinary effort that will build knowledge and collaboration across all disciplines, helping researchers achieve their lifelong goal of delivering real technology that can change lives for the better. The successful candidate will complement or expand research in a number of areas including Pathology and Surgery, as well as match up with similar research interests in the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position will be a tenure track/tenured position with a preference on hiring an individual with a strong track record of funding. This individual will also be expected to take on teaching roles within the School of Medicine.

Opening for AP/CP Boarded Cytopathologist

A busy, well-established, hospital-based, private practice group is seeking a board
certified (or eligible) cytopathologist for part-time or full-time employment. The group is a physician
owned and managed team of seven full-time AP/CP boarded pathologists, several with subspecialty
boards in cytopathology and/or hematopathology, one CP and Transfusion Medicine boarded
pathologist, and two exceptional Pathologist’s Assistants. The group serves not only a Top Ranked, 400
bed acute care hospital in a desirable suburb of West St. Louis County, MO but also serves three smaller
hospitals in the community. The centralized hospital laboratory processes approximately 28,000
surgical specimens, 400 bone marrow specimens, 600 flow cytometry specimens, 3,300 non-gyn
cytology specimens, and 18,000 Pap smears annually.
Applicants must have fellowship training and board certification or eligibility in cytopathology, board
certification in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, and licensure or eligibility in the state of
Missouri. Exceptional surgical pathology skills with the ability to sign-out a broad spectrum of simple
and complex surgical pathology specimens, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the
ability to work independently are also necessary. Experience in hematopathology is highly desirable but
not required.

The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Medical Director of Laboratory Hematology for the Core Clinical Laboratory at Barnes Jewish Hospital (BJH) on the Clinician Track. BJH is a 1250 bed tertiary care hospital that serves a diverse patient population, including hematology, oncology, surgical, and transplant services. In addition, the Core Laboratory provides services for other hospitals in the BJC HealthCare System, including St. Louis Children’s Hospital and several community hospitals.
The Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pathology & Immunology is fast-paced and dynamic, home to faculty with diverse clinical and research interests, and has a long record of innovation, research, and scholarship. The BJH Core Laboratory is located in a newly constructed state-of-the art facility, equipped with laboratory automation for CBCs and coagulation testing, automated and manual WBC differentials, complex hemostasis testing, flow cytometry, and serum protein and hemoglobin electrophoresis. The laboratory delivers services in benign and malignant hematology, disorders of hemostasis, and specialized testing for associated diseases (e.g. heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, G6PD deficiency, hemoglobinopathy, platelet function defects).
Clinical duties will include participation in medical director oversight of all areas of the hematology, hemostasis, and electrophoresis laboratory sections, including test development and quality programs, with an expectation for professional sign-out of protein and hemoglobin electrophoresis, flow cytometry, and/or hematopathology (if eligible). The successful applicant will work closely with the adult and pediatric Divisions of Hematology and Oncology and other clinical services. The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University is home to an ACGME-accredited residency program in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology as well as a fellowship program in Hematopathology. Instruction and training of pathology residents and fellows is an essential component of this position. Additional responsibilities will include education of hematology/oncology fellows, medical students, and medical technologists. The LGM is a fast-paced and dynamic division, home to faculty with diverse clinical and research interests, and has a long record of accomplishment in innovation, research, and scholarship. The BJH HLA Laboratory is accredited by both the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). It is located in a newly constructed facility with a team of dedicated, experienced staff and state-of-the-art instruments for serologic and molecular testing. The laboratory has a high testing volume and supported over 800 transplantations at the medical center in 2019.
Clinical duties will include participation in medical director oversight of all areas of the HLA lab, including test development and quality programs, technical supervision, and clinical consultation. The successful applicant will interpret and sign out histocompatibility testing results and work closely with the transplant clinicians and other clinical services.
