The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is seeking an academic cytopathologist with experience and/or fellowship training in one or more areas of surgical pathology. Applicants should be board-certified in AP or AP/CP with cytopathology fellowship training and qualify for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio. Head and Neck / Pulmonary Pathologist
Subspecialty Faculty Position

The Department of Pathology of UHCMC/CWRU in Cleveland, Ohio seeks a clinical pathologist or PhD scientist with expertise in clinical histocompatibility testing to serve as an Assistant Director of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. At UHCMC, the ASHI-accredited Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory (HIL) supports adult and pediatric organ transplant programs including kidney, pancreas, liver, heart, and lung as well as hematopoietic cell transplant programs for adults and children. In 2019, UHCMC teams transplanted 195 organ allografts and performed 52 blood and marrow allotransplants.
The Assistant Director will work under the supervision of two ASHI-credentialed Histocompatibility Co-Directors and provide support to ensure the laboratory provides high-quality services and consultation for all HLA-related testing including support of both hematopoietic and solid organ transplantation programs. The ideal candidate will work to maintain the quality of current laboratory tests, expand the test menu as clinically necessary, participate in clinical conferences, and assist in on-call service. The successful candidate will be expected to support trainee and faculty development in histocompatibility and immunogenetics through collaboration and teaching. This section includes a state of the art clinical microbiology program providing bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, parasitology, and molecular microbiology services to more than a dozen acute care hospitals in the UH network, including UHCMC, Seidman Cancer Center, MacDonald Women’s Hospital, and Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. The clinical microbiology section includes three other physician faculty and an accomplished technical staff.
