The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine seeks a neuropathologist with strong diagnostic skills and an interest in teaching and research to join its neuropathology division as director. The division of neuropathology has five full-time neuropathology faculty positions, and two neuropathology fellowship positions. The division provides clinical service for the hospitals of Indiana University Health, Eskenazi Health (the county hospital), and the Roudebush VA Medical Center. The range of specimens is broad and includes neoplasms, muscle and nerve biopsies, ophthalmic pathology, and autopsy pathology. Riley Children’s Health is the only comprehensive pediatric hospital in the state and has an active neurosurgery service.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is headquartered in the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory (a 150,000 square foot laboratory building with facilities that support the clinical, academic, and research missions of Indiana University Health and the Indiana University School of Medicine). Goodman Hall (home of the Stark Neuroscience Center, the Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center and the IU Health Neuroscience Center) is nearby.

Assistant or Associate Professor – Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Indiana University is seeking a clinical chemist to expand the therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology program of the Indiana University Health laboratory system. Applicants must have experience developing, using, maintaining, and optimizing testing methods on the following types of instrumentation: HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS. The chemist will be responsible for technical leadership, training, quality assurance/quality control and regulatory compliance that are associated with laboratory-developed testing.
In addition to toxicology, this position will participate in a rotating sign-out service for interpreting electrophoresis results. This position will also serve as laboratory director for the Indiana University Newborn Screening Laboratory.
Additional responsibilities include clinical and/or translational research, laboratory administration, clinical consultation, and teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate students in clinical toxicology. This position is expected to have a major impact within an academic medical center clinical chemistry laboratory and a large laboratory system looking to expand its toxicology and therapeutic drug monitoring services. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD, PhD, preferably with American Board of Pathology or American Board of Clinical Chemistry certification or board eligibility.
- Three years of experience in clinical chemistry and toxicology.

Pediatric Pathologist
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (USA).
The Department of Pathology at Indiana University Health Physicians and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine are jointly recruiting a pediatric pathologist to serve the pediatric patient population of Indiana. The pathologist will be based at the downtown Indianapolis Indiana Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, rotating to the Central Pathology Laboratory as needed for pediatric necropsy service. Experience with quality assurance and inspection and accreditation processes is desirable. Candidates with strong pediatric anatomic and clinical pathology diagnostic skills are preferred. The position is on the clinical track; academic rank is determined by qualifications and level of experience.
Riley Children’s Health at IU Health is nationally ranked in 10 of 10 pediatric specialties by US News and World Report. Pediatric Urology is ranked 2nd in the nation and Pediatric Cardiology and Heart Surgery is ranked 5th. The Pediatric Pathology department is located on site at Riley; satellite office space is provided in the central pathology lab, home to numerous sub-specialized pathologists.
The pathology department at large resides in a dedicated laboratory building with first class facilities. There is strong departmental support for translational and clinical research activities should the successful candidate wish to pursue excellence in a subspecialty area of interest. The Pathology group serves ten hospitals within the IU Health Hospital network, the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, and Eskenazi Health. The applicant must be certified in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology. Preference will be given to candidates who completed formal training in an ACGME accredited Pediatric Pathology Fellowship program and are either Board Certified or eligible for special certification in Pediatric Pathology. Applicants must also be qualified for licensure in the state of Indiana.
