AP/CP Board-Certified Full-Time Pathologist
EASTON, MARYLAND (USA).
Chesapeake Pathology Associates, LLC, a group of three pathologists, is seeking an AP/CP board-certified full-time pathologist. One pathologist is retiring. This is a partnership track position.
The pathologists are hospital-based independent contractors. The candidate’s pay and benefits will be commensurate with the candidate’s ability, credentials, and experience.
A surgical pathology fellowship is desirable, or specialty training in skin, breast, or gastro-intestinal pathology. Good communication and computer skills are required.
The pathologists oversee three hospital laboratories, in Easton, Cambridge, and Chestertown. These three hospitals form Shore Health System, which is an affiliate of the University of Maryland Medical System.
In anatomic pathology, there are about 11,000 surgicals per year, 1300 non-gyn cytologies (including FNAs), and 2300 Paps. The group has one Pathologists’ Assistant who grosses the surgical cases and assists with frozen sections. No autopsies are done locally; these are performed by the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
In clinical pathology, the hospital laboratories have a volume of about one million tests per year. Each pathologist covers one or two specialty areas, such as Chemistry or Blood Bank. On call requirements (nights, weekends, holidays) are light and equally shared.
Easton has long been considered one of the most livable small towns in the US, and it has easy access to Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. It is a “weekend getaway town” for many people in the region, and so has a much higher density of amenities (such as fine restaurants) than might be expected from the size of its local population.
