The NIH’s Clinical Center (CC) is a 200-bed hospital dedicated to clinical research. The mission of the CC is scientific discovery, including clinical protocols to evaluate rare diseases and clinical trials of novel interventions.
Candidates with leadership credentials and a record of interdisciplinary collaborations and scientific credentials in mass spectrometry are encouraged to apply for the position of Staff Scientist, Chemistry Service, Department of Laboratory Medicine at the NIH CC in Bethesda, MD. The Chemistry Service provides clinical laboratory support for adult and pediatric inpatients/outpatients participating in clinical research protocols at the NIH. It consists of five sections: General Chemistry, Immunoassay, Urine, Special Chemistry and HPLC/Mass Spectrometry. The Clinical Chemistry service consists of approximately 40 staff members, including three doctoral level chemists and two post-doctoral fellows.
The candidate should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent medical doctoral degree and formal post-doctoral training in clinical chemistry resulting in American Board of Clinical Chemistry certification/eligibility or have completed a residency in Clinical Pathology resulting in certification by the American Board of Pathology. He/she must have experience in clinical chemistry practice that includes mass spectrometry and interaction with clinicians regarding effective use and interpretation of clinical tests. The candidate should provide evidence of scholarship by authorship of publications in international peer reviewed journals.
Salary is commensurate with laboratory experience as well as scientific accomplishments.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is recruiting for a Medical Officer (GS-0602-14) in the Translational Research Program (TRP) to implement and oversee a portfolio of novel cancer agents in an innovative investigational experimental therapeutics program. The TRP is part of the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD), which is an extramural division of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is a full-time government position in Rockville, Maryland. The individual must be a US citizen with an active medical license, should be at least mid-career, and have a clinical background or training in a relevant pathology.
This position serves as a Medical Officer in support of a major extramural research grants program area of national scope, involving epidemiologic studies, clinical trials, and other basic and clinical studies. The incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities relating to the administration of a large research grants program involving these studies. Research projects are of broad and complex scope to treat problems that are exceptionally difficult and unyielding to investigation and/or require unconventional or novel approaches or complex research techniques.
