Anatomic Pathologist/Scientist, Research Pathology
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (USA).
Genentech Research Pathology is seeking experienced anatomic pathologists for multiple Scientist / Senior Scientist / Principal Scientist positions (rank equivalent to assistant / associate / full professor in academia). We have three open positions, each of which is searching for a unique set of qualifications.
For the neuropathologist/scientist position, candidates should have completed a residency in pathology and a fellowship in neuropathology, or have equivalent training. The successful candidate should have expertise in molecular and cellular biology using both in vitro and in vivo model systems, and possess a deep mechanistic understanding of the cellular pathways that contribute to diseases of the human nervous system (such as neurodegenerative diseases, neuroinflammation, and aging).
The digital pathologist/scientist will support our expanding emphasis on digital pathology, image analysis, and machine learning. This position will have a focus on generating novel biological insights from pathologic tissue samples using advanced AI and image analysis techniques on histological and single and highly multiplexed in situ protein and RNA assays.
The final position is open to an anatomic pathologist/scientist who will primarily support research scientists who discover and develop drugs for the treatment of cancer and inflammatory, autoimmune, fibrotic, and retinal disorders. All Genentech Pathologists support work performed in both preclinical animal models and human tissue specimens. As such, experience in translational research, comparative pathology, and animal models of disease is of benefit.
The department’s collaborative support of Genentech scientists includes histopathology interpretive expertise informed by traditional diagnostic categories, as well as by detailed and expert understanding of molecular and cellular biology. These activities are enabled by the pathology core labs that include necropsy, clinical pathology, histopathology, IHC/ISH, a human tissue biorepository, advanced light and electron microscopy, digital pathology, and translational tissue technologies.
