2021 Summary

For calendar year 2021, there were 1,359 job postings for full time or part time pathologists at PathologyOutlines.com, which form the basis for the statistics below. This is a 78.1% increase from the 763 ads posted in 2020 (click here). This may be due to a "great resignation" due to the COVID-19 pandemic, click here, although this has not been specifically described for pahtologists. Of these postings, 1,274 were for 1 position, 39 were for 2 positions, 4 were for 3 positions and 42 were for an unspecified number of positions greater than 1.

Of the 1,359 ads, 660 (48.6%) were for academic positions and 699 (51.4%) were for non-academic positions, compared to 42.2% academic in 2020. We define academic as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position at a university.
