Definition / general
  • Rare pattern with rosette-like configuration simulating glands
  • Usually male patients under age 30
  • Sites: metaphysis of long tubular bones
  • Survival: poor, with 75% dead of multiple lung metastases despite surgery with wide margins and systemic chemotherapy; estimated 5 year survival of 15 (Hum Pathol 2001;32:726)

  • Highly destructive with variable mineralization

  • Osteoblastic osteosarcoma with small multinodular growth pattern, lacelike osteoid deposits, hemangiopericytoma-like vessels, rosette-like formation, epithelioid tumor cells
