Definition / general
  • Also called sarcomatoid carcinoma
  • Similar to upper aerodigestive tract counterpart
  • Mean age 48 years, range 29 - 76 years
  • Aggressive; tumors often recur and cause death (Gynecol Oncol 2003;90:23)

Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with spindle shaped cells
  • Often osteoclast - like giant cells

Differential diagnosis
  • MMMT: spindle cell component is malignant
