Definition / general
  • Due to Brucella abortus, melitensis or suis
  • Either occupational or food related (milk and cheese)
  • Fever, hepatosplenomegaly, rarely lymphadenopathy

Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Follicular hyperplasia, clusters of epithelioid histiocytes that may form large noncaseating granulomas
  • Eosinophils, plasma cells, immunoblasts
