As an online textbook, we aim to be even more comprehensive than traditional textbooks as we do not have the same space constraints.
Here are some items that are sometimes missed, so please check off that you have done them (if not, indicate why not)

  • Include approximately 10 journal article references, most from the last 5 years, embedded after the text, using PMID for PubMed citations (Example: Mean age 30 years PMID 7332334).
  • Essential Features: fill out with the most important take home points.
  • Epidemiology: age, gender, geographic location, very strong causal connections.
  • Clinical features
  • Case reports: provide at least 5 quality case reports, most from the last 5 years, with preference to those with free full text. Clinical information must precede the reference.
  • Treatment
  • Micro images: attach several high quality representative images (JPG, GIF, TIFF format, 600KB, 1000 to 1600 pixels in height or width) demonstrating all important histologic features including low and high power and relevant immunostains. Images should be original and color balanced. Please provide a brief caption for each image thumbnail and a more detailed figure legend with the site, diagnosis and key histologic findings.
  • Please specify which current images should be removed if now redundant.
  • Micro description
  • Positive stains: list most commonly used first; if not uniformly positive, provide percentage positive.
  • Negative stains: list most commonly used first.
  • Molecular / cytogenetics description
  • Differential diagnosis: list in order from most to least important; include detailed information on how to differentiate from this topic.
  • Two board review style questions: one with an image of the entity (if applicable), and one standard.
  • Board review answers
  • Avoid abbreviations other than those widely used - CT scan, HIV, PCR
