Vice Chair of Anatomic Pathology

ALBANY, NEW YORK (USA). The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY is seeking a board-certified AP or AP/CP pathologist at the Associate Professor level with 7+ years of experience to serve as Vice Chair of Anatomic Pathology. Candidates are required to have subspecialty fellowship training (Gastrointestinal or Bone/Soft Tissue is preferred). Additional fellowship training in Molecular Genetics is a plus. Candidates are required to have previous administrative experience (residency committee member or program director, QA committee member, division chief) or prior participation in other departmental administrative duties.

Expectations of the position include administrative oversight of 13 full-time faculty pathologists, operational oversight of anatomic pathology laboratories and clinical service work in his/her area of expertise. The vice-chair will work closely with the chair to further the mission of the department. Additional opportunities for translational research and/or teaching are available if desired.

The department processes 80,000 anatomic pathology specimens (surgical pathology, hematopathology, dermatopathology, cytopathology) annually and is home to an ACGME accredited pathology residency training program consisting of 14 residents as well as 2 fellows (ACGME accredited Hematopathology; non-ACGME accredited Breast Pathology). A semi-subspecialized surgical pathology sign out system will be implemented by July 2018.

The service covers two major tertiary hospitals (North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center), a children’s hospital (Cohen Children’s Medical Center), an active fine needle aspirate interpretation hematopathology service, a large out-patient oncology bone marrow service, directorship of hematology and/or coagulation laboratories in the respective hospitals and the Northwell Core Laboratory. This is a partnership track eligible, non-academic position with the opportunity to join an extremely collegial work environment with excellent support staff. The first two weeks are spent providing coverage in a CAP accredited laboratory servicing a 460 bed, three hospital system employing more than 300 physicians representing 60 specialties. Call is 1:4 weeks with very few clinical calls. There are limited autopsies (approximately five per year) and no procedures.

Anatomic pathology cases include a mix of surgical and cytopathology with steady growth in volume in the hospital system. Experience is preferred but new graduates with strong anatomic pathology skills will also be considered. GI Surgical Pathologist

MADISON, WISCONSIN (USA). The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic GI pathologist. Candidates must be board certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP with subspecialty fellowship training in GI pathology or a minimum of 3 years subspecialty experience, and must be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be appointed as a member of the department at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level (non-tenure track) and will have responsibilities in surgical pathology.

Our surgical pathology division operates under a subspecialty model with shared call and therefore general surgical pathology knowledge as well as specialty training/expertise in GI pathology is required. The laboratory processes approximately 35,000 surgical specimens per year. The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with comprehensive programs in cancer and transplantation. In addition to routine surgical pathology work, the appointee will be given the opportunity to work closely with multi-specialty UW Comprehensive Cancer Center groups on collaborative clinical and translational research projects.

The surgical pathology service is structured using a subspecialized service.

Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, the successful candidate provides leadership for the Region and the Divisions at TOH and CHEO. The candidate will have primary overall responsibility for analytical/technical and clinical service at TOH and CHEO and will work closely with the Medical Head of EORLA and the Department Heads of Pathology and Laboratory medicine within the EORLA member hospitals.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (USA). Mayo Clinic Arizona is seeking a candidate for a full-time consultant position as a Cytopathologist/Surgical Pathologist. Candidate must have an MD degree (or MD equivalent), be board certified in Anatomic Pathology and have completed a Cytopathology fellowship with certification in cytopathology or board eligibility. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills and experience in both general surgical pathology and cytopathology. An interest in Head and Neck and/or Gynecologic pathology is favorable, but not required. Post fellowship experience is desirable, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate will join our growing academic practice with a group of 14 surgical pathologists in a department of 29 physicians and scientists. The cytopathology service has a heavy emphasize on non-gynecologic cytopathology, including fine needle aspiration biopsies of superficial and deep-seated organs. All surgical pathologists have subspecialty expertise and participate in scholarly activities through research and education. The position includes an academic appointment with the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic.

Douglas Hospital is the only level I trauma center in Orange County.
